The Portrait Making Process

How does it work?

Given that these are one of a kind portraits, it is important for me to meet the subject in person.  If it is an animal, I will take photographs for reference as it is difficult for creatures to hold a pose for an extended amount of time.  If the portrait is of a human, I prefer to have them sit for the portrait.  For this they need to be able to sit completely still for several hours, a challenge worthy of a portrait in itself these days.

How long does it take?

It depends on many factors.  Is there a blizzard or lots of rain? Can I find my pencil? I do my best to work within your stated time frame.  All good things take time.
